Eine sehr gelungene und interessante Diplomarbeit von Marius Holtmann, in der er verschiedene Datensätze eines Fußballspiels visualisiert: von Pass-Statistiken bis Fangesängen, von Internet-Streams bis Emotionen der Spieler.

Am Samstag, 12.6., besuchen wir das Archiv der legendären Hochschule für Gestaltung Ulm. Nach einer Führung durch die Ausstellung erhalten wir Einblick ins innere des Archives, insbesondere werden für uns pictografische Arbeiten von Otl Aicher ausgebreitet. Auf dem Weg nach Holland werfen wir noch einen Blick auf den berühmten Kuhberg, wo die HfG residierte.

Am Sonntag, 13.6., sind wir auf der Ausstellung INFODECODATA im Graphic Design Museum in Breda, wo wir am Nachmittag an einem Seminar mit teilnehmen.

Datavisualisation, the specialism that is focused on visualising and structuring data, has acquired a prominent place within graphic design. It connects graphic design, computer science and science at large, and helps to frame and portray our explosive world of information.

How do designers construct complex data? Where and how can the user find the information?

The professional designer seeks a spectator’s position to practice its leading role in this process. The fact that film, photography, print, and production development are activities that are also done by the non-educated designer or artist, has consequences for the professional designer.

The Graphic Design Museum searches for answers to the following questions, during the  INFODECODATA symposium.

Am Montag, 14.6., gehen wir mit Marteen Helle auf Typotour durch Amsterdam

Am Dienstag, 15.6., stellt uns die Informationsdesignerin Gerlinde Schuller ihre Arbeit im italienischen Saal des Archives der Stadt Amsterdam vor.

Am Mittwoch, 16.6., schauen wir uns die ausgezeichnete Bibliothek in Delft an. Danach geht’s weiter nach Antwerpen ins Museum Plantin-Moretus, wo historische Schätze der Typografie auf uns warten.

it contains some pages full of infographics and is really interesting to read. Where do we get the information, how is filtering them, of which country we get information and news, and who decides which will be printed in the newspaper….

Mit Design lässt sich Gutes tun. Dafür gibt dann auch gute Auszeichnungen. Auf dem Blog von Frog Design wurde eine Liste so einiger Wettbewerbe für GUTES Design erstellt.

Here I found some very beautiful and inspiring infographics with no sense behind it.

Immerwieder wird das Datenschutzproblem im Zusammenhang mit der allseits beliebten Plattform Facebook angesprochen und kritisiert. Hier habe ich eine Infografik gefunden, die zeigt wie viele Information Facebook von seinen Benutzern mit den Standard Sicherheitseinstellungen zeigt und wie sich das im Laufe der Jahre geändert hat. Die Ergebnisse sind erschreckend, seit April 2010 ist es möglich alle Informationen (ausgenommen Geburtstag) die ein Facebook-User, der mit den Standardeinstellungen angemeldet ist, im gesamten Internet.

Eine interessante interaktive Grafik, durch die das Problem des Datenschutzes im Internet gut thematisiert wird.

Eine schöne Sammlung derlei Diagramme gibt auf dem Blog Sankey SANKEY DIAGRAM mit dem netten Untertitel “A Sankey diagram says more than 1000 pie charts”. Ganz besondere gelungen ist die rosa Schönheit zum Thema Energie (s.o.). Wie hier auf wenig Platz Produktion, Nutzung und Verwertung bzw. Verschwendung von Energie in einen Zusammenhang gebracht wird, ist äusserst klar, reichhaltig und – wie ich finde – schön (unbedingt die große Ansicht ansehen).
